U.S. Constitution:

The United States Constitution was written at the Constitutional Convention in the spring and summer of 1787 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Before the Constitution was written, the United States was governed by the Articles of Confederation. There were 55 delegates in this group from all of the original 13 states with the exception of Rhode Island. George Washington presided over the Convention.
